“When the Earth is sick, the animals will begin to disappear, when that happens, The Warriors of the Rainbow will come to save them.”
—Chief Sealth (Seattle), Suquamish
Rose De Dan, Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing LLC, is a paq’o and mesa carrier in the Peruvian Andean Medicine Tradition, considered to be one of the last unbroken shamanic lineages in the world today. In addition she is also an animal communicator, Reiki Master Teacher, author and artist. In practice and in partnership with her companion animals, Rose offers private sessions and ceremonies for humans and animals, and teaches Reiki classes and shamanism workshops in Seattle.
UNLEASH YOUR ANIMAL SPIRIT
As a child growing up in South Jersey, when she didn’t have her nose stuck in a book, Rose could usually be found under the table with the dogs, outside communing with the willow tree, or curled up, sharing secrets with the cats. The animals, the stones, the trees were her friends and companions, and reading fairy tales made this all seem quite normal.
As she grew older a different picture began to emerge. One day as she was walking down a neighborhood street, trailed by a line of cats, a boy on a bike stopped in wonder at the parade and blurted out, “What are you, some kind of witch?”
And Rose sadly realized that not everyone understood that it was possible to communicate with animals and the natural world. She began to hide what she knew from others, and in putting her dreams away, she forgot about them.
THINK OUTSIDE THE CAGE
In 1996, then living in Worcester, Mass., Rose felt drawn to take a class in Reiki. During the attunement process she had a life-changing experience and was gifted with a vision of a healing practice for animals. In pursuing that vision, Rose began to remember her childhood dreams and passions. In the process of becoming an energy healer and voice for the animals, her practice began to evolve into one that focused on building bridges between people and domestic and wild animals, healing all in the process.
And the evolution took place with the assistance of both her companion animals and her animal clients.
A dapper black and white tuxedo cat Shaman made teaching and healing the clients and students his special focus. By working in tandem with Rose in sessions for people, Shaman helped create the principal philosophies of Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing: equality between species, and animals as teachers and healers. He was followed in the practice by Saqqara, second in command, and by Kiya, Cougar, Sand, and Cerne (deceased), succeeded by current dog, Puma.
And the animal clients further assisted in evolving the practice. During the session they would ask, “Please help my person. He/she is unhappy.”
And so, Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing was created, pioneering one of the first professional energy healing practices for people and animals in the U.S.
And there were lots of adventures along the way, and plenty of challenges and growth opportunities, some of which are documented in Rose’s book Tails of a Healer: Animals, Reiki and Shamanism, featuring 45 true and heartwarming stories about animals and their roles in her life and evolution as an energy worker and shamanic healer.
Rose continues to write many new articles for the blog, has another book in the works, and has given radio and print interviews.
BACKGROUND
As a mesa carrier, Rose received her Rites of Passage and Karpays (transmissions of power) directly from Don Manual Quispe, Q’ero elder and Altomesayoq in the Andean Medicine Tradition. Don Manuel was a master shaman and is believed to be the last elder who could speak directly to the Apus (mountain spirits).
She trained in Reiki Levels I and II training with Reiki Master Kathleen Wilk and in Master level with Reiki Master Mary Gallo. Additional training included the wisdom of Native American and Peruvian shamans, Tibetan Buddhist monks, T’ai Chi, and animal teachers. Specific shamanic teachers include Q’ero elder don Manuel Quispe; Alberto Villoldo and The Four Winds; Cusco-born shaman Jose Luis Herrera, Rainbow Jaguar; Mary Blankenship, Wiracocha Institute; Nipmuc shamans Little Turtle and Sleeps with Eyes Open.
In addition to her shamanic and Reiki training, Rose possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Clark University, and a background in graphic design, blending all with her love of photography to create beautiful and unique for animal lovers, Reiki and shamanic practitioners.

Thank you, Beth, I assume you are referring to the 1996 interview with Worcester Magazine posted on the News Articles page on my main website.
That interview was done as I was finishing up my training as a Reiki Master Teacher. I was so excited, and so nervous, to be a spokesperson for Reiki and Reiki for animals. At that time it seems I was a pioneer in the field, no one else was specializing in it. Today it is so wonderful to go on the internet and see the availability and demand for energy healers and animal communicators. It is a sign to me that there is very real hope that we can learn to live in harmony with this world rather than trying to control it.
I enjoyed your site as well, especially your dog art, and have added it to my blogroll.
Best wishes,
Rose

Dear Rose
I just found you googling for my website http://www.qeromasterhealers.com
I felt compelled to invite you to our event with the last Master Healers of Q’eros. Don Manuel is on the cover of my 2nd book. When we first brought him out of Peru in 1996 Juan said Don Manuel was trying to marry me! HEE HEE. I loved him so much….we have lost almost all the fourth level priests in the last 6 years.
Don Humberto and Dona Bernadina are truly the last.
Well…it will be a gathering to remember.
Yours,
elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, so nice of you to contact me, I am aware of your first book, and would like to purchase your second, unless you want to trade for a copy of my “Tails of a Healer: Animals, Reiki and Shamanism.” (-:
Don Manuel was quite the ladies man from the stories I have been told, and with his wonderful smile he charmed us all. I miss him, too, his ceremonies and shamanic perceptions were an inspiration to me.
Regretfully I cannot attend the event, but perhaps I can read about it in future. Would love to be added to your mailing list.
Munay,
Rose

Hi Rose,
I just found your book last night and am so excited to read it. I am working on improving my animal communication skills, doing shamanic journey work, am an artist, and was just recently attuned to reiki II. I’ve been looking at how to combine all these things on my path, and Ta-da! There you were having already done so.
I just felt compelled to contact you and wanted to greet a kindred spirit.
I also live in the Seattle area, so hope to be able to meet you in person and take some classes from you sometime.
Thank you!
